At Living Word, the business affairs of the church is conducted by a group of people called The Council. The Council has general oversight of the life and activities of the congregation, so that everything be done in accordance with the Word of God and the faith and practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
It is the job of The Council to lead the congregation in stating its mission, to do long-range planning, to set goals and priorities, and to evaluate its activities in light of its mission and goals. To this end, we must seek out and encourage qualified persons to prepare for the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
If you are interested in serving as a member of The Council, please see a current member or the pastor.
A message from the congregation council-January 2021
The congregation council recently met to elect new officers. We had a discussion regarding the current situation of the pandemic, our newly developing relationship with Salem Baptist church and our next steps in determining how we go forward with obtaining a new pastor.
Although there were no new council members elected at the congregational meeting, the current council members and officers are dedicated to continuing in our mission.
In these uncertain times we felt the need for continuity in leadership was important. We voted to postpone the election of new officers and to have the current officers remain in their positions temporarily.
We look forward to the future when we can return to doing things in person, when construction is completed and when we have a settled pastor. Until that time we will continue to faithfully serve the congregation.
As always if you have any questions, concerns or comments please do not hesitate to contact a member of council.
