Some excerpts from minutes of the last meetings:

Community

Meetings take place at 7:00PM on the third Thursday of each month.  Tithe designation-Autism Speaks.org.  Flea market discussed-To be held on May 25.  Advertisemnet to be done on TV and web as well as in the church bulletin and newsletter. Vendors needed for $15 per space. Pet Fair is Saturday June 8 from 9AM to 3PM.  Approximately $278 raised for Relay for Life through Yankee Candle sales.  32-9" knit and crocheted squares were delivered to make blankets for the cancer patients.  Also in development is a small group of women that may gather to knit/crochet the squares. 

Meetings take place at 7:00PM on the second Monday of each month. This Committee is charged with maintaining parochial records of the congregation, maintaining a directory of members, maintaining communication with members, overseeing the Newsletter, overseeing relations with the ELCA and Synod, visiting and contacting shut-ins; visiting and reporting on sick and/or hospitalized members; overseeing member activities such as Senior Schemers; planning fellowship activities;  and providing monthly reports to Council.  

This committee will keep in contact with all of our shut-ins. We will list all of those for whom we are praying in our weekly bulletin. Discussed the poissibility of Lay distribution of Communion. Four children's activity bags are complete. We will make 2-4 additional bags and keep supplies on hand to keep the bags neat. We are planning a Bingo/Dessert night  for June 1.

Finance     

Meetings take place at 7:00PM on the first Tuesday of each month. Members received information regarding the bookkeeping of the church, which was helpful to understand the tasks of the treasurer. Sue is drafting the duties of the treasurer, which will be reviewed by committee mebers and submitted to council by June.  Our committee is changing its meetingdate due to conflicting schedules.  We will meet on the first Tuesday of the Month at 7PM.     

Property

Property and santuary cleanup were done on March 15 and 16.  We are getting roof estimates, checking on the lighting for church signs, and getting the church signs painted.  We will discuss planting some flowers and shrubs when weather permits.

Worship & Music

Meetings take place at 7:00PM on the first Monday of the month. Pastor planning to introduce a new setting in the liturgy.  Syndod Council is May 3-4 and we need volunteers to attend.  Bookmarks will be given out for Mother's Day and Father's Day.  Nicene Creed will be used on Pentecost.  We will worship upstairs during the summer, beginning June 16 or June 23.  Serge will pre-record music for the Sundays he will be on vacation.Anyone else who would like to join this committee is welcome.  You are encouraged to make any suggestions or ideas  about the services or any other aspect of this committee’s work.

Christian Education

Meetings take place at 7:00PM on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Vacation BIble School will be held Monday July 29th through Friday August 2nd, 6:30-8:30 PM each night. The last day of Sunday education Hour classes for youth and adults will be the first day of Pentecost.  This year the date is May 26th. Helping Hands day for youth is Saturday April 27.  Discussion about the 30 Hour famine was put on hold.  Last year we did it at the end of May.
