Recently, after 45 years as Aid for Friends, this charity has modernized and changed it’s name to Caring for Friends in a ceremony held on October 11, 2019. It’s mission remains unchanged.
At Living Word, we hope you feel fed. Food is the most basic human need. At Living Word, we want to feed people in a human sense and in a spiritual sense.
One of our biggest service ministries at Living Word is our monthly work with Caring for Friends. At Living Word, we prepare on average 300 meals per month. If you would like to help cook or prepare meals, welcome! Join us on the third Tuesday of every month, around 6:00 p.m. to help do meal assembly. This is an excellent opportunity for those within the congregation to come together during the week and serve Go by serving others.
The mission of Caring For Friends is to serve needy, isolated shut-ins, primarily the frail elderly, in the 5 county Greater Philadelphia area, with free daily home-cooked meals delivered weekly by empathetic volunteer visitors, and also to provide shut-ins with free out reach services. The goal is to help our homebound “client/friends” maintain their cherished independence by supporting their determination to remain in their own homes for as long as possible and to enhance their quality of life.
